i ve just force my good fren to accompany me to watch pride and prejudice. damn good. i like it very much. for the first 15 mins, the gals are a bit too desperate. cant blame them actually. they got nothing else to look forward to in their life besides man. the gals are beautiful, and so are the man. Mathew Macfayden is damn gorgeous..

something is up..

reaaly gtg. sorry for ending it abruptly.

Saturday, December 24, 2005

'students should always be better than their teacher, otherwise both fail.'

these is the first statement blurted out by my microbiology lecturer in his first lecture. true, but to a certain extend. i really want to write more about it but time does not allow me to do so. i need to do some research on antimicrobial properties of certain microbs/food and hand it up asap if i want to survive for this sem.

anyway, MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone.

New system is now available in UMS where we can check our results thru sms. And this is where i got the bad news from.

I cant believe i perform this bad. it's disastrous. I got 'TL' for on one of my subject. It turn out to be "Tidak Lengkap". What the fuck.

I dont really know wat does it mean. but i remember clearly that i finish all the work that is assigned to me.

If i m still not improving, BAT is going to kiss my ass out of their scholars list.

Friday, December 16, 2005

'If you give a fish to a man, he can eat for a day, if you teach him how to fish, he can eat for a lifetime.’

Our government doesn’t seems to get it. Perhaps they never will. Not only that they pamper the bumiputras ridiculously, they did the same thing to Sabah and Sarawak. I will go one by one. First of all, our ever so perfect education system. For your information, in certain papers, we ( the kl student ), need to get at least 50 to pass, and for the Borneo students, they can get an A if they score above 60. It doesn’t happen all the time, but their passing and scoring marks are definitely lower than ours. Unfair isn’t it? Well, I got to know this since I was very young. And frankly speaking, I’ve already accept the fact. I am very sorry to say this, but I do mean it. They are just lucky because they are in Sabah. Wait till they come to our place and see how the geniuses overshadow the brilliant ones and how the average ones are labeled as ‘stupid’, oops, less brilliant. I am getting mean. My apologies.

But my point is, helping them (the student) in this way will lead them to nowhere. Why is it so difficult to set the same level for all the students in Malaysia? Why differentiate them by states? The repercussion of these is apparent when these students further their studies to the tertiary level. Look at how they struggle when they compete with those from the peninsula. They could have done better if they are not pampered like that in the first place. The same case goes to the matriculation students. It’s true that if they are not given any privileges, the amount of them who can make it will be lesser. But they will eventually find a way out themselves and those will be the very good ones.

Next, the professionals. Many of us is unaware that the lawyers from the peninsula is not allow to practice in Sabah. The reason? Because of some ludicrous treaties made on 1963 to ‘protect’ Sabah and Sarawak. All the other professionals (lecturers included) are not allow to stay in Sabah if their contracts is over. The attempt of lowering the competition from the peninsula is not going to raise the standard of the local professionals. The million dollar question is : for how long can these local people be protected?

There are many restrictions for the us, from the peninsula, in Sabah. We cant buy a house in Sabah. We cant stay there more than 3 months, we cant own a business there without a Sabahan as a partner, bla bla bla… The same reason given for all the restrictions ; to protect the Sabahan by giving priority to them. However, these priorities are not helping them, they are pampering them. I think it’s time for the government to let go and let them buck up for their own, on their own.

Thursday, December 15, 2005

I still remember clearly how hesitated i am last night on today’s trip to the island. Wendy was forbade from going beyond the waist level and therefore, she is not going to join me snorkeling. While both of us were waiting for bus for more than one hour this morning, we almost cancel our plan and thinking of going ODEC instead. (ODEC is the name of the beach in our varsity) Somehow, we got onto the bus and stick to our plan without any enthusiasm. We thought of going to a new island, the Sulug island. As it is an unknown island and rarely visited by tourists, we was told that we might have to wait for hours for the boat. Reluctantly, we go for Manukan. Again.. It was really cheap though. RM 15 per person.

Once we got there, we were told that a person was drowned in less than half an hour ago. Honestly, I was disturbed and was trying so hard to not to think about it. Hoping that I wont bump into his dead body while I was snorkeling, I went straight into the sea, forgetting to apply some sunblock.

Unexpectedly, I had fun snorkeling alone: swimming among schools of fishes, observing how the clown fish swirling around the anemone, chasing some rare fish, and playing with sea cucumbers and seaweed. It cast my mind back to my first few dives. I begin to wonder when am I going to log my… erm… 5TH dive. Hehehe.

The sea was rough in the afternoon, to the extend that the lifeguard do not allow us to stay in the sea. It was raining, very windy, and damn cold, exactly like the weather when we went there last year. But I had a great time, with a great company. This is probably one of my best trips. At the end of the day, I begin to realize that sometimes when you do not have high expectations; things might turn out to be great.

That’s wat I ve been complaining for the past few weeks…. But now, I think that perhaps it is more than enough. Yes, I m done with my exams… and im kinda bored these few days.. watching sex and the city, playing war craft, the sims, and a stupid game called thumblebug. Having no laptop for the moment, I begin to realize that it was the only ‘thing’ that I have for the past few semesters. Why am I staying in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Sabah for the holiday? Good question.. well, because I went back last month, because the air ticket is damn expensive, because I tot that I might travel around in Sabah, because I tot that I might climb mount kinabalu. The only thing that I realize now is ‘spending 3 weeks in Sabah during the holidays is definitely not an easy task’.

My first plan was to go rafting, and I went. It was not as fun as the first time, as the old saying goes, the first experience is normally the best experience. It might not be true, but it is applicable in this case. The water level is higher, and because of this, our boat was not ‘allowed’ to be capsized. Bloody hell. Boat capsizing is the only ‘big thing’ in water rafting. As I want to make the best out of it, I jumped into the river to do the body rafting. The current is so damn strong that it nearly kills me. (okay, I exaggerated) hehe. It’s exhausting, but exciting. What an experience.

A friend had asked me to join a so-called community service camp last week. On the 5th, to be exact. Having nothing to do, I accept her invitation, a 5 days camp in Kiulu. I am sorry to say this, but I cant tolerate the way they work. Everyting is so unorganized, unnecessary and is a complete waste of time. Helping the children is fine, but the organizing team itself is problematic. The ultimate lesson that I learn from the camp is patience. Wendy on the other hand, got ‘more’ from the camp. Itchy limbs.. I find it hilarious watching her scratching her arms and legs. It reminds me a lot of myself after drinking. Until now, I am not sure whether I’ll give up on alcohol, but if I did, I’m going to miss a lot.

Next, I have a date with wendy before the school starts. We ll probably do some island hopping for the whole day. In the meantime, I ll finish the final season of sex and the city and a Japanese anime, full metal alchemist.

It took me years to figure out what this phrase really means. I mean, I do know what it means literally, but only now that I can really understand what is it all about.

When you keep on winning, it is very difficult for you to accept your first lost. However, it is the lost that keep you motivated, bring you improvement and lead you to another win.

My first lost was unexpected though. But it made me realise my mistake, my weakness and most importantly, it tells me that there is still a long way to go.

Winning is nothing if the competition sucks. You wont feel proud of yourself, no excitement.... nothing. But when you meet a good competitor, by the end of the day, no matter what the result is, you will have the most important thing.... satisfaction!
